Delegates of the United Jewish Trades gave important reports of their Unions at a meeting, which was held Sunday, May 8.
The delegates of the Cloak makers Union reported that the Cloak Manufacturers Association invited the Joint Board to a conference, to discuss new agreements with the Union. The delegates declared that a strike will possibly be avoided.
The delegates of the Painters Union, Local 521 reported that the lockout of the Building Trades did not harm the Painters. At present, all the painters are working at the Speedway Hospital, a government construction.
The delegates of the carpenters Union reported that there are more carpenters employed now, than a few months ago. The lockout of the Building Trade had little effect on the carpenters.
The delegates of the furriers Union reported that the trade is in good standing. Only a small number are unemployed. The workers earnings are almost as much as in good times.
2The delegates of the bakers Union reported that Local 237 are preparing themselves financially to fight the employers, who with the aid of the Bosses Association, seek to undermine the union.
The United Trades endorses the plan of carrying on a campaign to collect money for an English Daily Newspaper.
