Consular Letter

El Nacional, Sep. 5, 1931

El Nacional,

737 South Halsted Street,

Chicago, Illinois.

I must let it be known to the Mexican Colony, for its general interest, the following misrepresentation.

I have been receiving at this Consulate visits from our compatriots, who informed me that there is in Chicago a man named Juan Rojas, who pretends to be officially representing the President of Mexico, of Engineer Pascual Ortiz Rubio, with the purpose of helping all those Mexicans who wish to come back to Mexico and do agricultural works.

That man gives as his domicile the Stevens Hotel, as his official address this Consulate, his personal description is as follows: 5 feet, 5 inches tall, dark complexion, about 27 years old, has a mustache and carries always a brief-case of documents.

It seems that this man has not demanded money as yet; but by all means he is unnecessarily putting the Colony in alarm. For this reason I hereby notify that no person in Chicago is officially representing the Mexican Government for this purpose.

I give you thanks for the publication of this letter.

Effective note. No reelection,

The Consul, Rafael Aveleyra.
