A Meeting of the Ceska Utulna a Sirotcinec

The board of representatives of the Ceska Utulna A Sirotcinec [Bohemian Old Peoples Home and Orphanage] held their regular meeting last night at the usual place, the hall of the Cesko-Slovanske Podporujici Spolky (Bohemian-Slavonic Benevolent Associations) on 18th Street. Mr. Suchy was the presiding officer. The meeting was fairly well attended.....

After the reading of the minutes of the last meeting, Mr. Dolezal, representing the Sokol Slavsky [Gymnastic Association Sokol-Slavsky] was introduced. He presented the request of the Sokol Slavsky that the Utulna A Sirotcinec postpone the laying of the cornerstone of the new orphanage because May 22 and 23, the days selected for that celebration, marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Sokol Slavsky, and all preparations to celebrate this anniversary on those days had been made.....

After a debate....the Utulna A Sirotcinec postponed its celebration to May 30.....

Mr. Charvat reported on behalf of the executive committee that he had procured the building permit for the orphanage and several other necessary documents from the city free of charge. These would have cost at least six hundred dollars.....

Mr. Tichy reported on his visit to the Ceska Tesarsko-Truhlarska Unie [Bohemian Carpenters' and Cabinetmakers' Union] which he had approached with the request that its members donate their work in connection with the erection of the orphanage. He was most cordially received, and his request was granted.....

A similar call will be made on the Painters' Union.....

Mr. Janda reported that the members of the Ceska Zednicka Unie (Bohemian Bricklayers' Union) had also promised to donate the work of from one to three or more days each toward the erection of the new orphanage.....
