Branch 30 of Federation Vatra Organized in Chicago (Summary)

On Sunday, October 16, the Albanians of Chicago and vicinity gathered at Hull House, Polk and Halsted Streets, to discuss the organization of a branch of the Albanian federation Vatra. At 4:30 P. M., Ahmet Meshgorani called the meeting to order, and after thanking the gathering for their patriotic zeal and explaining the purpose of the meeting, he proposed the election of a chairman and a secretary. Kristo A. Liponi (Christ A. Lepon) was selected chairman, and John Adams was named secretary.

The chairman thanked the members for the honor bestowed on him, and spoke at length on the patriotic duty of every Albanian and what could be accomplished through the federation Vatra. He praised His Excellency, Ahmet Zogu, President of the Albanian Republic, and Faik Konitza, Minister of Albania to Washington, D. C. There were several other speeches.

The following officers of the new branch were elected: Kristo A. Liponi (Christ A. Lepon), president; Ahmet Meshgorani, secretary; Spiro Prifti, treasurer; Kristo Mustaka, assistant secretary.
