Revyen -- January 01, 1910[Jeppe Askjaer Misunderstands]
The editor quotes an article by the great Danish poet, Jeppe Askjaer, in which the poet says that he does not want Danish heather cultivated; he finds a beauty here that ought to be preserved. May the editor of Revyen correct the poet; it is not the intention of the Danish-Americans to buy a piece of heather to have it cultivated but just to preserve it as it is, and to make it a park or gathering place for themselves during their visits home. This idea has been put forth by both Revyen and the Pioneer for some time, so the article by the poet is based on a misunderstanding. The Danes in the United States agree with him wholeheartedly.

Skandinaven -- January 04, 1910Home for the Aged Destroyed by Fire
About three o'clock this morning fire was discovered in the new building of the Home for the Aged, in Norwood Park. Approximately sixty of the old people were sleeping in the old building. It appeared for a time that the old building would also be destroyed.
The matron soon had all of the aged residents dressed and out in the yard. The night was very cold, and the old people had to find shelter or freeze. The station master at the N. W. R. R. station soon had a roaring fire in the stove in the waiting room, and the old people were made snug for the night.
The fire burned merrily throughout the night, and by morning only a pile of ashes remained. The building was fully covered by insurance.
